You are welcome to connect your own equipment to Starlink; however, we cannot guarantee performance or compatibility with 3rd party networking equipment. Additionally, the Starlink App may not work as expected when using 3rd party routers. To use the Starlink App with your 3rd party router, click here for additional guidance.
Note: The Gen 3 router cannot function as your primary router if you're using 3rd party routers, modems, or mesh networks. However, you can set up a 3rd party router as the main one and use the Gen 3 router in bypass mode to integrate with 3rd party mesh systems.
Starlink Standard Actuated Kit
To connect a 3rd party router or mesh system, you will need to purchase the Ethernet Adapter from the Starlink Shop to allow for a wired connection to the network.
Starlink Mesh is also available for purchase on shop.starlink.com (compatible with Standard (Rectangular) Starlink only).
Standard (Circular) Starlink
Please be aware the Standard (Circular) Starlink router does not have a router bypass mode. If you use your own router or mesh system, we recommend physically removing the included Starlink router and using the 3rd party equipment exclusively with the power supply.
We do not recommend using Starlink in a dual LAN system, or placing network switches inline with the Starlink and the Starlink/3rd party router.
Enterprise / High Performance
Starlink Enterprise / High Performance hardware includes a cable option for connecting the power supply to an external RJ45 port, enabling the use of a 3rd party or mesh system. Prior to setting up your 3rd party router, ensure you have an active Starlink account. You can activate your account at Starlink.com/activate before proceeding with your 3rd party setup to establish an online connection.
