What are the alerts on my Starlink app?


Below is a list of alerts from your Starlink device that may appear in your Starlink app, along with suggested actions to potentially resolve the issue. These alerts are triggered if the specific condition occurs at least once within a 15-second window and will persist as long as they remain active.


ACTIVATE STARLINK NOW

  • Definition: Your Starlink is online in its "free data" grace period, and its service will be cut off if the terminal is not activated within the designated timeframe.

  • Suggested Action: Up to 60 minutes of free data. Activate your Starlink now to continue service.


DATA USAGE LIMIT REACHED

  • Definition: Your Starlink service has been currently disabled because it has reached its data limit

  • Suggested Action: Tap the alert to configure Starlink WiFi and restore internet access.


DETERMINING LOCATION

  • Definition: Your Starlink is looking for GPS signal. This may take up to 15 minutes.

  • Suggested Action: Don't unplug your Starlink during this time. Please note, third-party metal mounts that wrap around the terminal’s base enclosure, or placing the terminal directly on metal, may impact GPS performance and are not supported. MANUAL UPDATE REQUIRED

  • Definition: Your Starlink requires a manual update in order to get back online.

  • Suggested Action: Please perform a manual software update for your Starlink in order to connect to the internet.


NO ACTIVE SUBSCRIPTION

  • Definition: Your Starlink is not associated with an active account.

  • Suggested Action: Please activate or resume your Starlink service.


OPTED INTO PRIORITY DATA

  • Definition: You have opted in to receive overage data for your Starlink.

  • Suggested Action: Tap the alert to view and manage data usage.


POOR CABLE CONNECTION

  • Definition: Negotiated Ethernet speed between Starlink dish and Router indicates poor cable connection. Potential cable damage.

  • Suggested Action: Try unplugging and plugging back in the cables from your Starlink and the Router, making sure the connectors are free of moisture and debris. If the alert continues to show after these steps, tap the alert and follow the instructions.


POOR WIFI SIGNAL

  • Definition: Device has poor WiFi signal. Internet performance may be impacted.

  • Suggested Action: Move closer to your router for a better connection.


RECENT INTERRUPTIONS

  • Definition: Starlink is online and performance has been healthy over the last minute. However, it looks like your Starlink has experienced elevated packet loss in the last 15 minutes.

  • Suggested Action: No immediate action needed. This issue may be due to extreme weather, a temporary network issue, or obstructions.


ROAMING PERIOD EXPIRED

  • Definition: Your Starlink has been outside of it's registered country for too long.

  • Suggested Action: Return to your registered country address on your account or update your registered address to your new location.


SERVICE OUTAGE

  • Definition: Starlink services or Starlink.com is experiencing an outage.

  • Suggested Action: Your area is currently experiencing a service outage. We are working to quickly get this resolved.


SOFTWARE OUTDATED

  • Definition: Your Starlink's software is very old and cannot connect to satellites.

  • Suggested Action: Please contact Starlink support for replacement options.


STARLINK DISABLED WHILE MOVING

  • Definition: Your Starlink is moving too fast in accordance to its stationary policy. Your service plan only allows service while Starlink is stationary.

  • Suggested Action: In-motion use is only supported for users with Starlink Roam/Mobile services.


STARLINK DISCONNECTED

  • Definition: Your Starlink is unplugged or rebooting.

  • Suggested Action: Please ensure your Starlink is completely plugged in.


STARLINK MOVING TOO FAST

  • Definition: Starlink has detected high-speed movement not currently supported by your service plan.

  • Suggested Action: Slow down to resume service.


STARLINK OBSTRUCTED

  • Definition: Your Starlink is partially obstructed. This can cause outages that will be most noticeable during video calls and online gaming.

  • Suggested Action: For best performance, make sure your Starlink has a completely clear view of the sky.


STARLINK OVERHEATED

  • Definition: Your Starlink has shut down due to a high temperature.

  • Suggested Action: Please allow your Starlink to cool down. Your Starlink will reconnect after cooling down.


STARLINK ROUTER HARDWARE ISSUE

  • Definition: There appears to be an issue with the Ethernet ports on your Starlink Router.

  • Suggested Action: Please reach out to Starlink support for replacement options.


UNEXPECTED LOCATION

  • Definition: Your Starlink is not in the correct expected location.

    • a. Your Starlink is not in its registered country
    • b. Your Starlink is not in its registered location
    • c. Service is not available in this country
    • d. Service is not available in the ocean
  • Suggested Action: Ensure your Starlink is in its correct location related to its service address & service plan.

    • a. Move your Starlink back to its registered country or change your service plan (to an appropriate one) to reconnect your Starlink
    • b. Update your service address or change your service plan to use Starlink away from its registered location.
    • c. Move your Starlink back to its registered country to continue service
    • d. Move your Starlink on land or purchase a Starlink Maritime product to connect.

UPDATE REQUIRED

  • Definition: Your Starlink's software is out of date.

  • Suggested Action: Your Starlink will download the latest software within the next 24 hours. If the download finishes before 3am, your Starlink will reboot automatically to apply this update. You can also update immediately from the app when the download completes. To ensure your Starlink can download the latest software, please keep it powered with a clear view of the sky.


WIFI CONFIGURATION REQUIRED

  • Definition: Your Router is requiring WiFi setup before accessing the internet.

  • Suggested Action: Tap the alert to configure Starlink WiFi and restore internet access.
